COLORADO · HOME INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASE

Your home insurance premium jumped. Find out what changed.

A higher renewal price can reflect statewide loss pressure, property-specific wildfire pricing, roof or coverage changes, deductible choices, or multiple factors at once. HAVRYO helps separate the increase before you decide what to change.

DON'T REACT TO ONE NUMBER

A premium increase can hide several different changes.

Before reducing coverage or spending on mitigation, determine whether the increase is mostly market-wide, property-specific, coverage-driven or connected to a hazard model.

01 / RENEWAL

Compare line by line

Use the expiring policy and renewal offer together. Price alone does not tell you whether the product stayed the same.

02 / PROPERTY

Look for a specific trigger

Roof information, wildfire risk, inspection findings or other property characteristics may be influencing underwriting or pricing.

03 / DISCOUNTS

Check what changed

Identify mitigation, bundling and other credits shown by the insurer rather than assuming a discount is automatic.

04 / MARKET

Then compare alternatives

Shop comparable coverage through appropriately licensed insurance professionals when the renewal no longer fits.

COLORADO · CURRENT CONTEXT

Some pricing factors now come with more transparency.

Colorado's wildfire-model law matters when wildfire risk is being used to price, surcharge or create a rate differential. The state is also building a new resilient-roof framework, but implementation dates matter.

HAVRYO should show the homeowner what is actually in effect today rather than turning future programs into current promises.

HB25-1182 · 2026

Wildfire pricing notices and mitigation information

When covered wildfire risk models or scores are used for pricing or surcharges, the law requires specified notices about the applicable score/classification, mitigation discounts and other information. It also requires insurer websites to identify applicable mitigation actions and associated premium adjustments.

IN EFFECT
SB26-155 · NEXT PHASE

Resilient-roof insurance reporting starts no sooner than 2027

Colorado's new Strengthen Colorado Homes framework requires future insurer filings concerning resilient roofs and associated discounts after rulemaking. HAVRYO does not present that future reporting layer as a guaranteed current discount.

IMPLEMENTATION TIMELINE
STATE AUDITOR · 2026

Premium pressure is broader than wildfire alone

A 2026 Colorado State Auditor evaluation cited a 58% average increase in Colorado home-insurance premium costs from 2018–2023 versus 34% nationwide, and noted hail as a major statewide driver.
