COLORADO · HOME MITIGATION · INSURANCE DISCOUNTS

You hardened the home. Now verify what the insurer actually rewards.

Mitigation can reduce physical risk without automatically producing the same insurance discount from every carrier. Start with the improvement, identify the documentation, then verify carrier-specific eligibility, amount and renewal treatment.

RISK REDUCTION ≠ GUARANTEED PREMIUM REDUCTION

Mitigation can be valuable even when the discount is uncertain.

HAVRYO should never sell a retrofit by manufacturing an insurance payback. The homeowner may gain resilience, eligibility, compliance or better underwriting treatment even when a premium discount is small, delayed, carrier-specific or unavailable.

01 / IMPROVEMENT

Define the mitigation

Identify exactly what was installed or completed and which hazard it addresses.

02 / PROOF

Build the evidence file

Keep contractor records, product specifications, permits, inspections, photos and certifications that support the improvement.

03 / CARRIER

Verify insurer treatment

Ask how the carrier recognizes the mitigation, what documentation it requires and whether a discount or other underwriting treatment applies.

04 / ECONOMICS

Calculate only confirmed value

Separate verified premium impact from grants, tax benefits, physical risk reduction and other reasons for the project.

COLORADO · RESILIENT ROOF SIGNAL

Colorado is making roof discounts more visible in insurer data.

SB26-155 became law in 2026. No sooner than January 1, 2027, and after the Insurance Commissioner adopts rules, multiperil homeowners insurers must make annual filings that report the number of homes with resilient roof systems, the discount applied because of those systems, and wind/hail claim experience.

This creates a future data layer for HAVRYO: carrier × mitigation × discount × effective period × source. It does not justify inventing a discount today.

SB26-155 · CURRENT LAW

Resilient-roof discount reporting

The enacted act requires insurer reporting of discounts applied to homes because of resilient roof systems, subject to the 2027-and-rules timing.

IMPORTANT

Not one statewide discount percentage

The law's reporting framework does not create a single universal homeowner discount amount across all carriers.

HAVRYO · MITIGATION BENEFIT CHECKER

Don’t ask “Does mitigation save money?” Ask what this carrier recognizes.

The future checker can combine property improvement + evidence + carrier + policy period and return only traceable benefits—plus grants, programs and professional next steps where relevant.
